The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Hello my dears!

I have resurfaced from the depths of the dark and deep abyss! Bahahaha! Sort of.

Sorry for disappearing for a while. Because of my ridiculous old computer that freezes whenever something is minimized or maximized... I can't go online without having to shut down the computer at least 5 times within 2 minutes. Also... my scanner/printer is glitchy times 100. Bah.

But other than that, I have been checking up on things.

I hope all of you are doing loverly. Anime expo was pretty amazing because of the astounding company... however, Long Beach was kinda poopy. I am so sad I didn't bring a camera. -_- Totally bites.

As for my current state of affairs... I am going to be away for a month again. ;__; On Monday, my family and I are heading to the Philippines for three-ish weeks. :3 I haven't been there in a long long time, so I'm hoping it's going to be fun.

The reason why we're all going in the first place is because we will be celebrating my cousin's wedding and my grandparents' 50th anniversary. (my birthday fits in there somewhere... but it will definitely be overshadowed because it lands on the 50th anniversary shindig. Bah.

The Philippines... is HOT. It's HOT and HUMID and HOT! -_- To top it all off, it's rainy season. So it's going to rain. It's going to rain HOT RAIN. TT__TT Man oh man.

I'm not really looking forward for that. Aside from rainy hotness and other extremities like not so good water and mosquitos and pink public restroom stalls on the street and major pollution....

Well my darlings! I am off to the Neverworld once again! I shall return, however, bearing much gifts.
